Cardiology

Cardiology is one of Swain Community Hospital's major service lines, and we are proudly staffed with highly-skilled clinicians who are experts in providing world-class heart care. Board-certified physicians along with specially-trained nurses and members of the care team, are prepared to treat the full range of heart issues, including heart attacks and heart disease. Our non-invasive cardiology services diagnose and monitor heart disease on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Services

Cardiac Rehabilitation Services are designed to help participants learn to modify and control risk factors and maintain optimal health by achieving a personal level of physical, psychological, vocational, and social health through three phases of rehabilitation: inpatient, outpatient, and maintenance. Consult a member of your care team or your primary care physician if you are interested in these services.

Participants are instructed on behavior modifications such as:

  • Diet
  • Exercise
  • Stress management 
  • Smoking cessation

Educational topics include:

  • Challenge of recovery 
  • Pulse count and target heart rate
  • Angina and common arrhythmias
  • Medications
  • Heart-healthy diet
  • Risk factors
  • Stress management & relaxation
  • Home exercise
